This is the FIRST APPEARANCE of this ultra scarce GLOBE Cardboard Poster in a public auction! The poster features The Allman Brothers Band at the American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 17th 1972. Also on the bill were Spirit, Alex Taylor, Goose Creek Symphony, Eric Quay Tate and Crisis. When a Globe poster of this high caliber surfaces for collectors, a major event has just unfolded before your very eyes!

From its opening in 1929 until its closure in 2010, Globe Poster Company in Baltimore was the go-to place for musicians, circuses, drag races, and concert producers for bold, eye-catching letterpress advertising. It's no secret that Globe cardboard concert posters are the gold standard amongst advanced collectors. They rarely show up at public auction and when they do, they are always met with enthusiastic bidding!

The Allman Brothers Band were touring continuously in spring of 1972 following the release of their third album "Eat A Peach". This concert in Charlotte took place months after the tragic death of Duane Allman. "We'd been through hell, but somehow we were rolling bigger than ever," stated Gregg Allman, when asked in past interviews about the spring of 1972. Unfortunately bassist Berry Oakley died five months later from a motorcycle accident - not unlike Duane almost a year earlier.

Very little material from the early years of the Allman brothers still exists today, in ANY condition! The likelihood of another example of this issue surfacing again anytime soon - if ever - is extremely slim to none. It's no secret among collectors that Allman Brothers concert posters are one of the hottest, if not THE HOTTEST segment of the marketplace right now. Given the rarity and desirability of this EXTREMELY SCARCE relic, we expect fireworks to ensue once bidding begins!
