This poster is mounted, and has been restored to offer the appearance and eye appeal of a Mint copy. This is the FIRST EXAMPLE of this ultra rare Jimi Hendrix issue to appear in our auction!

The shows at Washington DC’s Ambassador Theatre were just two months after Jimi Hendrix’s notorious performance at the Monterey International Pop Music Festival. Jimi’s first US tour in 1967 with The Experience started in California. After a stop at the famed Whiskey a Go Go, the band traveled to the East Coast for performances in New York, Florida, North Carolina, and finally Washington DC.

His last name is erroneously misspelled, "Jimi Hendricks" on this Ambassador poster, forever exhibiting his still unknown status to promoters and venues.

Hendrix played an amazing six concerts over five nights at the Ambassador. His first studio album “Are You Experienced?” had just been released. Admission for each show was only $1.00. (Ironically, the starting bid for this poster)!

The theatre had only been open for one week when these shows occurred, and the venue had already built a reputation for fantastic light shows. During this run, Jimi also participated in a free youth concert, called "Keep the Faith Washington", with bands from other venues joining the bill at the Ambassador.

Posters from the Ambassador Theatre have consistently been in high demand by collectors. Less than five specimens of this highly sought after rarity have been auctioned in the last 20 years, and this is the first to appear in our auction. Think about that for a second. We have sold so many classic rarities totaling many millions of dollars and this is the FIRST specimen of this issue we have had the pleasure of offering!

Ultimately, Jimi Hendrix is without a doubt the undisputed top artist in the concert collectibles marketplace, and therefore it places this poster into a category of its own. We couldn’t be more pleased to celebrate our 100th auction with this as a featured collectible this month!
