November CGC Sale (Auction #126)

This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/19/2020

This poster is signed in pencil by the artist, the late great Wes Wilson!

This original poster for a run of shows at Veteran’s Hall in 1966 is one of Wes Wilson’s earliest Grateful Dead designs. It was produced around the same time as the famous FD-12 issue (The Quick and the Dead). It should be noted that the Dead did not perform on the first night. They played on the second night, June 18th, however no set list was recorded.

CGC posters graded below 9.0 are currently mis-understood and under priced in today's marketplace. This poster is in far better condition and has much better eye appeal than the numerical grade would lead you to believe. Please look at our high res imaging and see for yourself.

This early Dead poster rarely shows up at auction, in any condition! In January 2010, a non-CGC certified example realized $1870 in our auction, and it was not signed! A signed example in similar condition as this one here recently sold in another auction for $1350 but it was not CGC certified. Read our blog dated 1/20/18 where we discuss the skyrocketing demand for SIGNED material such as this lot!
